The AC-Con takes place on the impressive grounds of Ferropolis , a former open-pit mine located in southern Saxony-Anhalt near Gräfenhainichen.
This unique area, also known as the “City of Iron,” is now an open-air museum and event venue. Five gigantic former lignite excavators, up to 130 meters long and 30 meters high, tower over the site, reminding visitors of its industrial history.
Up to 50 rigging points have been installed on and between these imposing steel structures. Six circus tents, ranging from 14 to 24 meters in diameter, are also distributed across the extensive grounds and offer shows, workshops, and other training opportunities.
The site is located on a peninsula in Lake Gremminer. The lake formed after open-cast mining ended and contributes to the area’s unique atmosphere. Access is via a narrow spit of land, which creates a naturally enclosed space — ideal for a focused, communal atmosphere.
